Tomas Pajdlhauser (pie-del-house-er)

I’m an artist and creative director based in Los Angeles. By day, I’m a production designer for animated films and TV series and have worked with clients including Sony, Netflix, Disney, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon, National Geographic, Red Bull TV, and Mattel. With over two decades of experience in animation production and pre-production, I’ve worked in most departments and have a thorough understanding of what it takes to develop story-serving artwork and design while managing budget, schedule, and production challenges. 

My personal art practice is based on lived experiences captured on-the-go in sketchbooks. I’ve taught my approach to on-site ink and watercolour sketching internationally and shared my work through exhibitions and publications, most notably Cold Brew (2018), a solo exhibition of 100 sketches of Ottawa streets and sidewalks on repurposed coffee cups, and Palestine Sketchbook (2019), a limited-run art book that captures urban life and skateboarding culture in the West Bank. The skateboard graphics that I produce for Birling—the skateboard shop that I co-own in Ottawa, Canada—highlight my love for urban design and travel, a focus that I’ve also brought to freelance commercial design projects for clients including Ducati, Biltwell, and Royal Enfield.
